EAGLES & SONGBIRDS

Western USA

Recently I had a couple of great opportunities to photograph eagles and more in two western states … Alaska and Washington. Recreation and adventure are right outside of your door year-around whether you are in the Kachemak Bay area, and or Hood Canal.

Strolling a sunlit beach, hiking a glacier, or kayaking with the whales in a protected cove or fjord these western states provide some of the best wildlife opportunities. You can tour by land, by air, by sea, by horseback, by four-wheeler or sail the wind – on the water or above the hills. You will find lots of eagles, waders, shorebirds, waterfowl, and songbirds.

While Alaska is commonly referred to as The Last Frontier, it truly has a very rugged and wild landscape and the largest population of bald eagles of any state. As many as three thousand bald eagles will winter in greater Homer Bay area. This was one of the most exciting and fun photo excursions that I have participated in, in a very long time. We had lots of opportunities to capture these majestic raptors in their natural habitat, and in so many different settings.

Washington is known as the evergreen State, and it is truly lush with green vegetation everywhere, especially along the coast. The huge trees tower over you as if you a Lego character, not a human. The western landscape provides fantastic places to find eagles, waterfowl, shorebirds, waders and songbirds.

I trust that you will enjoy the images from these two excursions. I hope that you have enjoyed your visit to my website, and I trust that you will return real soon. If you wish to be notified of updates to the website, click here, but in the meantime, I invite you to follow me on Instagram.
